Walnut Macaroons

(Walnussmakronen)

Ingredients:

3 egg whites
1 -1/2 cups walnuts, finely chopped
1 cup (200g) sugar
grated zest of 1 organic lemon

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 250º F.

Beat egg whites until stiff. Continue beating while gradually adding 2/3 of the sugar. Combine rest of sugar with chopped nuts and lemon zest. Using two teaspoons, place small mounds of the mixture onto a greased cookie sheet or onto small round baking wafers (Backoblaten).

Bake at 250º for 20-30 minutes.
